Mentors play a crucial role in the SlicTec invention model. Each new idea needs a strong team of qualified minds with the knowledge and time to make it real and make it work. While the SlicTec engineers have both the time and skills we also need strong mentors, like you, to provide the guidance and support that can only come with experience.
What is a mentor and why am I needed?
A mentor is an experienced professional who can participate in student led projects by providing guidance and direction during the creation process. Having mentors with experience in the areas each project requires will help investors feel confident about their choice to use the SlicTec team for their ideas.
What is expected as a mentor?
A project mentor can be involved in as little or as much as they would like. At a minimum we at SlicTec would hope that the mentors can give 1-2 hours at the beginning, middle, and near the completion of each project they choose to participate in (3-6 hours/project). This will allow you to share with the team any guidance, advice or concerns that may help them progress through the creation process. The schedule for meeting will be determined by the mentor and team depending on the needs of each new idea.
Project mentors are not always engineers. Some projects require mentors with different backgrounds such as business, marketing, communications, sales, graphic design, photography etc. All creative minds are welcome.

Compensation for your time with us
Project Mentors will be paid hourly for the help they provide. The hourly rate will be set based on need and experience.
Our team is your team
We encourage you to use the SlicTec Team for your own personal projects and inventions. When guiding the students on your own project you will only need to pay a small hourly rate per student.
Open pool of candidates
Team members are available to you and your company for internships and job offers at any time. The projects allow you to meet and work with potential candidates before you offer them a job.
Share the project success
Mentors have the option to invest their time with SlicTec for a potential share in the success of products and concepts they help invent. Mentors can also have their names on patents and publications as appropriate.
